Gerrard flashes the V
Last night's game between Wigan and Liverpool left a negative feel in the air. Liverpool’s hopes of finishing 4th in the Premier league are hanging by a tiny thread as last night's loss meant they stayed in 6th place with rivals Aston villa behind by just 3 points and 3 games in hand. To top it all off Liverpool’s skipper, Steven Gerrard, could face an FA rap after flashing the V-sign at referee Andre Marriner.
After a challenge against Wigan midfielder James McCarthy, Gerrard was given a yellow card which he thought was unnecessary. Clearly Gerrard was angry with Marriner’s decision and let him know how he felt. Gerrard later quoted, "It was a clean tackle. Even if it was a foul I did not deserve a yellow card. Like on many occasions the referee was wrong." After the news reached Liverpool manager, Rafa Benetiz, he was left frustrated as not only does he face being axed as Liverpool manager but also faces losing one of Liverpool’s star players. The fans at Liverpool are clearly in turmoil as their team has had a terrible season so far and now it seems that it will continue this way. The fans desperately want Rafa out of the club and would like a better and more willing manger for the club.
Bad news for Rafa
Due to Liverpool’s loss yesterday at the DW Stadium, Rafa’s role at Liverpool seems to be coming to and end. The Liverpool manager has failed to impress anyone and only stands a chance of winning 1 cup. Liverpool have reached the final 16 in the Europa league but will they advance to the finals. Only time will tell but until then Rafa’s future at Liverpool seems very uncertain.
