Swagger flu

Swagger flu

Over the past years young children mainly children between the ages 10-18 have been fussing over something they like to call ‘swagger’. Swagger is a word in the youngster’s slang dictionary, it defines when people dress in their colours, are looking fresh (matching) and look really hard (cool). Children have now turned this into a habit and are bringing it into their schools. But are the teachers, parents and designers impressed? This new trend of swagger for teenagers has now put dramatic pressure across the whole country and has now affected the reputation of the youths of today.

We interviewed a few people on their views of today’s youth and the manner in which they dress. Mr Busso, a secondary school teacher gave us his view on the way children dress, ‘I think it is absolute stupidity that tucking trouser legs into socks has become a fashion and wearing trousers so low down their person that people can see their underclothes.’ Many people agree with this statement however some people have a different view on this.

We interviewed a mother of two young teenagers who did not want to be identified and her view was, ‘My daughter walks out of the house wearing brightly coloured clothes and tight fitted outfits and my son is normally wearing some sort of oversized hooded jumper and expensive trainers, his trousers are always below where they should be but they will not wear anything I buy them.’ Many of the elders in our community are afraid of the youths of today that dress like this. This is because you cannot see the faces of these people when they have their hoods up unnecessarily and it gives off a negative vibe.
A few groups of youths have desperately been trying to change the view of the people in our community but there are still a few people who do things that do not help us push along with this. Children of today take ‘swagger’ way too seriously and this can lead to bullying. Gangs and stealing because the youths strive to dress like what they see around them.

Swagger the new obsession that kids all over have brought has encouraged some and irritated some. Rappers, singers and dancers have all taken this to account and have made it something to sing about. Is this right? Should children control what they want?  Yes it is absolutely fine, children should chose they own dress sense and be allowed to wear what they want. Many children complain that police stop them for what they wear not all children are bad so therefore not all should be stopped and should carry on their own style that suits them. Swagger the new trend has taken over for children; it is what makes them feel human and fit in.
