Assessment

The Government has announced that SATs will no longer be externally marked at Key Stage 3 and that the levels will be assessed purely by teacher assessment. At Burlington Danes our present Year 9 will still do the tests and Burlington Danes will use the SATs exam papers and level from these.

I believe that these exams are extremely important for parents and schools to see exactly how pupils are doing and they also give a real focus to Year 9. The levels still have to be reported and for pupils the results at the end of Year 9 really signal possible GCSE results at the end of Key Stage 4.

Level 5b at Key Stage 3 is a potential Grade C at GCSE. This is the minimum standard that we want all pupils to reach.
