Full attendance and punctuality are vital to the smooth running of the school and to pupils’ progress. Pupils need to:
- attend academy regularly
- arrive at academy on time
- attend all lessons and arrive on time
Lateness
The academy day starts at 8:30am every day. If a child is going to be late for a legitimate reason please phone the reception on 0208 735 4950 before 8:30am. Your child must sign in at reception as soon as they arrive at the academy. If a child is consistently late we will impose appropriate sanctions.
Absence
We will authorise an absence if your child:
- has been ill
- has a medical appointment
- has a secondary school interview
- is absent for religious observances
- has a special circumstance about which they have informed the Principal or Head of School.
We will not authorise an absence if the academy has not been given a legitimate reason for the pupil’s absence. We strongly discourage parents taking children on holiday during term time as this disrupts their learning.
If a child is ill we would be grateful if parents could phone Reception before 8:30am on the first day the child is sick. If the academy does not receive a phone call we will contact the parent immediately. We will also require a note from the parent explaining the absence on the pupil’s return to academy.
