Homework is designed to help students to do well. Its functions are to:
- consolidate learning
- check understanding
- provide extension opportunity
- prepare an item or activity for the next lesson
Parents can help their child by supervising and making sure that homework is completed to meet set deadlines and is of a high quality. Parents should inform form tutors of any concerns about homework.
The amount of homework set each night will increase through the academy so that key stage 4 pupils will be doing 1.5 hours of homework a night.
Non-completion of homework
Failure to complete homework on time will be penalised.
Pupil Planners
All pupils will be issued with a pupil planner at the start of the year through which staff can communicate with parents on a daily basis. We ask parents to check and sign the planner each week to ensure that homework is done. Parents can also contact the form tutor via the planner if there is a problem.
