Additional Items and Issues
- If for religious or cultural reasons a pupil has to wear a head covering then this must be mid-grey or navy to match the academy uniform.
- Girls may wear skirts OR trousers (not both). Academy skirts must be no shorter than knee length.
- Outdoor coats must be black/dark grey or navy blue with no logos, patterns or markings of any kind. Coats must be removed on entering the building.
- No jewellery is allowed except for a single small pair of stud earrings and a watch. No other form of body piercing is allowed. Jewellery must be removed before PE.
- No make-up or nail varnish is permitted. Hair should not be coloured or cut lower than a ‘number two’ and there should be no hair markings. Hair should not fall over the eyes, or be untidy. Use simple hair grips to keep hair back off the face. Hair may be worn in plaited style.
- Pupils must wear the correct uniform to and from the Academy.
We expect pupils to wear their uniform properly and with pride, including on the journey to and from school. Parents can help us achieve this by ensuring their child is dressed properly when they leave home in the morning.
Equipment
We provide pupils with the materials required for lessons but expect pupils to bring their own:
- pencil cases that should include; a pen, a pencil, a rubber, a pencil sharpener, a ruler.
- a file or folder to keep worksheets safe, neat and tidy.
- All key stage 3 and 4 students must have a scientific calculator for maths lessons. The preferred model is Casio fx-83ES. These can be bought from WHSmith, among other retailers, or from the Maths Department for £5.
All equipment and uniform should be clearly labelled with the child’s full name..
Pupils should not bring expensive items to the academy. The academy will not take responsibility if such items are lost.
