Physical Education at Burlington Danes
Our PE programme provides both exercise and health education, underpinning the academy's commitment to healthy living. Our high expectations of student achievement are reflected in our deliberate focus on performance and competition. We have our very own professional standard basketball facility, and we are one of the few inner-London schools to have two full-size football pitches on site. We also make use of local sporting facilities such as Westway Sports Centre and Linford Christie Stadium, which borders our own playing fields.
PE is compulsory during the first five years of students' education at the academy. It includes a wide range of experiences aimed at developing perseverance, teamwork, resilience and self-discipline.
Activities include a wide range of team and individual sports. From age 14, students can choose PE as an examination subject.
Through our Sports Development Programme our PE staff work all year round with local primary schools. We also enjoy very close links with Queens Park Rangers Football Club, with whom we have delivered a range of innovative study support programmes.
