Special educational needs (SEN)

BDA has a strong philosophy of supporting each student's individual learning needs so that all students can achieve their potential.

We have a comprehensive programme of support for students with special educational needs. The school follows the revised Code of Good Practice in identifying, assessing and supporting students with special educational needs.

The special needs co-ordinator (SENCO) leads a team of eight Learning Support Assistants (LSAs). Our LSAs  work in classrooms alongside teachers and offer support to small groups of students outside of lessons.
The SEN team works closely with other support services, including our own English as an additional language (EAL) team, where appropriate, to support each child's needs.
